CINEMA NOVA CELEBRATES THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF SPIELBERG’S EPIC CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND
Patrons can encounter Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning classic on the
big screen as Cinema Nova celebrates the 40th anniversary of a film that helped
shape modern cinema.
Fully restored and presented in high definition digital, audiences will be able to enjoy Spielberg’s science-fiction adventure in a new 4K digital print for the first time, with all of the original majesty and magic.
Audiences will also be treated to a seven minute introduction about the making of the film which includes a brand new interview with Steven Spielberg. Made in 1977, following the success of Jaws, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is a compelling story about a group of people who try and contact alien intelligence.
Synopsis
As a group of international scientists begin to recognise that a series of inexplicable occurrences are linked, everyman Roy Neary (Richard Dreyfuss) has a 'close encounter' with an unidentified flying object that leaves him a changed man. Suddenly haunted by a vision of a place he has never been, so begins an obsession to discover who - or what - is the source of his newfound infatuation. Co-starring François Truffaut and Teri Garr, Spielberg's Oscar-winning avant-garde epic is a must-see for any dedicated fan of cinema.
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind screens under our Nova Iconic banner, a carefully created line-up of essential and important cinema, digitally restored. Films have included Goodfellas, The Dark Crystal, Thelma & Louise, and the upcoming Blade Runner: The Final Cut and Wings.
