For Immediate release

Cinema Nova is delighted to present our first Monthly Matinee where we host an advance screening of a film with an introduction from a revered figure within the film industry and a very special guest.

This month we feature
THE SENSE OF AN ENDING on Friday 19 May at 10.30am with freshly-baked scones with jam and cream, tea and coffee, plus an introduction by Jan Epstein and Professor Michael Saling discussing the fluidity of memory.

Jan Epstein (host)
Jan has been writing and broadcasting on film since 1989, and has contributed articles to magazines, newspapers, and books such as Cinema Papers, Compass Theological Quarterly, The Australian Jewish News, The Age, The Australian, The Oxford Companion to Australian Film 1978 – 1994, and the Encyclopaedia of British Film.

Professor Michael Saling (guest)
Dr. Michael Saling is a Clinical Neuropsychologist at The Austin Hospital, as well as being the director of the Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology at Melbourne University, and an expert in memory.

Adapted for the screen by playwright Nick Payne and helmed by acclaimed director Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox), THE SENSE OF AN ENDING explores how memory contributes to how we contextualize our lives.  Starring Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent, Michelle Dockery and Academy Award nominee Charlotte Rampling, THE SENSE OF AN ENDING is an unfolding drama of regret and a meditation on the ambiguities of memories.

Cinema Nova's
Monthly Matinees are targeted to an older demographic (retirees, pensioners, theatre lovers etc.) and are set to become a unique and regular highlight in our already busy calendar.
