Monster Fest is coming home to Cinema Nova!
Monster Fest, Australia’s premier
showcase of cult and genre cinema, is proud to
announce a return to its spiritual home, Melbourne’s iconic
and much loved Cinema Nova.
Monster Fest was born at Cinema Nova in 2011 and in the years since has
grown to become one of the most unique, exciting and well recognised
film festivals in the country, building an enviable reputation among
film practitioners and movie lovers alike for its heady mix of world
and local premiere screenings, special guests, special events,
movie-marathons and more. Championing the finest cutting-edge
cinema on the planet, Monster Fest has spawned a legion
of dedicated fans across the land.
Cinema Nova General Manager Kristian Connelly
remarked, “We could not be happier to have Monster Fest returning
to Cinema Nova. It was within these walls that this
magnificent beast was born, and now our baby is coming home. We’re
proud, thrilled and even a little scared!”
“Cinema Nova is Australia’s most popular independent
exhibitor and is proud to fly the flag for cutting-edge genre
content. Offering audiences the widest and
most eclectic cinematic smorgasbord in
Melbourne, Monster Fest and Cinema Nova are a match made in
heaven - or hell - depending on how you look
at it” remarked Neil Foley on behalf of the festival.
Today also marks the opening of submissions for Monster
Fest’s 2018 Melbourne festival, as well as the announcement of its
official dates - Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th of November.
“The submissions process for Monster Fest commenced in 2015,
when we also introduced the ‘Monster Awards’. In 2017
we saw submissions increase by over 200%,
including shorts and features from all over the
world. The interest in being considered for Monster
Fest is beyond our wildest dreams. Our advice to filmmakers
is; if you’ve got a film or are planning to make one in
the near future, don’t be afraid to put it in the Monster
Fest mix!”, said Monster Fest’s Grant Hardie.
