Award winning filmmaker Warwick Thornton to discuss Sweet Country at Nova

Acclaimed filmmaker Warwick Thornton, director of the AFI Award winning Samson and Delilah, will attend a Q&A at Cinema Nova, following an advance screening of his highly-anticipated new period western, Sweet Country. Tuesday January 16 at 6.30pm.

Sweet Country had its World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury prize and received a standing ovation. Since then it has toured the festival circuit the world over, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival, picking up more awards along the way.

Inspired by true events, Sweet Country is set in the Northern Territory in 1929 and follows the pursuit of an Indigenous man accused of murdering a white landowner. Featuring an all-star cast including Bryan Brown, Matt Day, Sam Neill, Ewen Leslie and Hamilton Morris.

Warwick Thornton is an Australian film director, screenwriter and cinematographer. He was the recipient of the Camera d’Or at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival for his debut feature Samson and Delilah.
